AC uninstall and installation
An air conditioner is the one thing in a move that cannot simply be wrapped and carried. It has to come off the bracket properly, the gas has to be pumped down instead of vented, and the copper needs to survive the journey without a kink in it. Done badly you arrive with a unit that runs but never cools, and what you saved on a cheap uninstall goes straight back out on a regas and a leak hunt. We send a technician for the removal and another at the far end for the fitting, and the same job number covers both.

- Copper piping coiled and taped, brackets and remote bagged with the unit
- Drain pipe and stabiliser disconnected and packed with it
- Core drilling and bracket fitting at the new wall where it is needed

- Compressor, PCB and fan motor repairs, which go to a service centre
- Society or landlord permission for core drilling and outdoor brackets
- Electrical work beyond the existing point. A new line is the electrical job instead

- Both ends on one job, which is the common case and the cheaper one.

- Simpler and quicker than a split. Priced separately because the work is not the same.

- Added when the technician finds the unit low on refrigerant, quoted before he does it.

How long it takes
Usually a same-week slot, and often next-day in the cities where we have the most technicians. One split unit is about two hours at each end.

No advance is taken on a call and nothing is charged for the quote itself.
Who does the work
The work is done by verified local technicians we already use on moves, not by staff of our own. We take the details, send them the job and stay on it until it is finished. You approve the price before anyone is booked.
Frequently asked
Will I lose the gas when the AC comes off the wall?
Not if it is done properly. The technician pumps the refrigerant down into the outdoor unit and closes the valves before disconnecting anything, so the same gas goes back in at the new place. Venting it to the air is faster, illegal and the reason so many moved ACs need a regas.
Can you fit it if there is no bracket or drilled hole at the new flat?
Yes. Core drilling and bracket fitting are part of the job where they are needed. Tell us in advance if the wall is exposed brick or a hollow partition, because that changes the fixing and the price.
What if the unit does not cool after it is fitted?
The technician runs it and reads the outlet temperature in front of you before he leaves, so a problem surfaces while he is still there. If a fault shows up later, tell us and we send him back rather than handing you a service centre number.
Do you move the AC itself, or only disconnect it?
Your moving partner carries the unit with the rest of the load. We handle the disconnecting and the refitting at either end, and we coordinate the timing with them so the AC is not the thing holding up the truck.
