The Indian Banks' Association is the industry body for India's banking sector. It maintains its own list of moving companies that meet a set of operating criteria, things like a minimum number of years in business, a fleet the company actually owns rather than hires per job, and audited financial statements. A mover on that list is described as "IBA approved."
The reason it matters: when a bank or a large PSU transfers an employee, the relocation bill usually only gets reimbursed if it comes from a mover on that IBA list. So for a bank employee mid-transfer, this isn't a nice-to-have badge, it's the difference between an expense that gets paid back and one that doesn't.
If you're moving on your own account rather than a bank transfer, IBA approval isn't a requirement, but the criteria behind it (real experience, owned vehicles, audited finances) line up with what most people already want to know about a mover before booking one.

IBA is one of the more commonly copied certifications in this industry. Before trusting a badge on a website, do this:
- 1.Ask the mover for their IBA certificate or registration number directly, and don't take a logo pasted on a website as proof — it costs nothing to copy.
- 2.Cross-check the company's GST number on the official GST portal at the same time. A genuinely empanelled mover has no reason to hesitate on either.
- 3.Confirm the certificate belongs to the entity you're actually booking, not a similarly named branch or franchise operating under the same brand.
