Bill format FAQs
What should a packers and movers bill contain?
Your business name and GSTIN, an invoice number and date, the customer's details, the consignor and consignee, the route and vehicle number, each charge with its GST, the total in figures and words, and your signature. The samples above show each of these in place.
What is the difference between an LR and a bilty?
Nothing. LR stands for lorry receipt. Bilty is the everyday word for the same document in much of India, and some movers call it a consignment note. It goes with the truck and lists what was loaded, for whom and where to.
Is the invoice valid for GST?
It carries your GSTIN, the customer's details and the tax split in the standard tax invoice layout, which is what your accountant needs. It is not a filing service. GST returns, e-invoicing and e-way bills stay with whoever handles them for you now, and the rate to charge is your accountant's call.
Do I need to install an app?
No. You ask for a document on WhatsApp and fill it in on a web page that opens from the link. It works on any phone, and on a laptop when you want a bigger screen.
Can I make the invoice from the quotation?
Yes. Open a quotation and make the invoice from it, then the LR and the receipt from the invoice. The customer, route and amounts carry over, so you type them once.
Can I bill a household customer who has no GST number?
Yes. Most household moves have none. The customer GST line simply reads "Na".
Will my stamp and signature be on the documents?
Yes. We add your logo, stamp and signature when we set up your company, and they print on every document after that.
Can I make a bill for a move that did not happen, for a claim?
No. The documents are for jobs you actually carried out. A bill for a move that never happened is a false document.
